Do you want to join the fight for marriage equality? Do you think civil marriage offers protection to gay and lesbian families? Winning civil marriage equality rights is within our grasp. But there is also a strong backlash. State Representative Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler) has sent out a cosponsor memo to every member of the state house, proposing an amendment to the state constitution providing for the definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

A local chapter of Marriage Equality USA is in the process of being restarted here in Pittsburgh. Please go to www.marriageequality.org for more information on this national chapter and sign up for a free membership.

Note that the state chapter information for Pennsylvania will soon be updated. Marriage Equality Pennsylvania will work with the ACLU, PA-GALA, Steel City Stonewall Democrats, and other state and national groups on a grassroots effort to educate people and get media attention focused on marriage equality and the myriad ways same-sex couples, same-sex survivors, and children of same-sex couples suffer by not having relationship protections equal to that of their heterosexual counterparts.
